# 2-3. Carbon credits and offsets

The flow from the creation of carbon credits to the offsetting of carbon credits against CO2 emissions is shown in the chart below.

Just creating carbon credits doesn't directly contribute to CO2 reduction. It's only when these credits are used to offset emissions that they have a real-world environmental impact. SINRA aims to not only facilitate the creation and circulation of carbon credits but also promote their use for offsetting, with a vision to invigorate Japan's carbon credit market.<br>
